چکیده

In applied work in macroeconomics and finance, nonoptimal infinite horizon economies are often studied in which the state-space is unbounded. Important examples of such economies are single-sector growth models with production externalities, valued fiat money, monopolistic competition, and/or distortionary government taxation. Although sufficient conditions for existence and uniqueness of Markovian equilibrium are well known for the compact state space case, no similar sufficient conditions exist for unbounded growth. This paper provides such a set of sufficient conditions, and presents a computational algorithm that will prove asymptotically consistent when computing Markovian equilibrium. ∗Corresponding Author: Professor Olivier F. Incomplete markets over an infinite horizon: Long-lived securities and speculative bub

This paper studies sequence economies over an infinite horizon with general security structures. Assumptions are given under which a pseudo-equilibrium exists for all economies and an equilibrium exists for a dense set of (appropriately parameterized) economies. Under these assumptions the indebtedness of the agents in equilibrium can be limited either by an explicit bound on their debts or by ...

A note on the existence of a monetary equilibrium over an infinite horizon

In this note, I show the existence of monetary equilibria over an infinite horizon in the case of certainty for a given supply of balances. In addition, I prove that there is an equilibrium for every overall price level. These findings confirm the theses advanced by Drèze and Polemarchakis [6] about economies extending over a finite horizon. I here consider the monetary economy with ‘inside mon...

Existence and uniqueness of solutions for a class of infinite-horizon systems derived from optimal control

This paper deals with the existence and uniqueness of solutions for a class of infinite-horizon systems derived from optimal control. An existence and uniqueness theorem is proved for such Hamiltonian systems under some natural assumptions.
